Culture Table: This year's ASA meetings will take up the "question of culture". Members of the culture section, of course, took up this question long ago. And we all have a lot to say about how to approach an answer. As a special way to both celebrate the role that the culture section of the ASA has played since its inception 15 years ago and also to highlight the intellectual challenges that lay ahead of us, this year the culture section will have a special table set up (probably near the registration area) where members of the section will hold an ongoing discussion on "The Question of Culture". The table will be staffed from 3:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We are looking for volunteers to sit at the table for an hour at a time. While "on duty" section volunteers will be pass out culture buttons, sign up new recruits to the section and discuss "The Question of Culture." As a special treat I have invited each of the past chairs of the section to staff the table for an hour at a time. Once I have finalized the scheduling I will post the Culture Table schedule here so that you can drop by and hear some thoughts on "the Quetion of Culture" from the past culture chair of your choice.
