I am an associate professor of sociology at the University of California, San Diego. I am interested in measuring discourse quantitatively. I previously published a book that used a type of content analysis data of academic texts and a form of clustering to come up with communities of discourse (although I didn't call them that.) I have also tried to measure "worldviews," and opinion polarization in other papers. I am always trying to find a way to incorporate the measurement of discourse into my substantive interests.
