Channel 33
            F Watch Mammal Socialization
If you have the time to watch TV, please take the time to watch channel 33 when it is convenient -- especially when there are programs that show baby mammals doing exploration and play. You will have the chance to see mother-infant interactions and the social learning experiences that the young have with their mother, peers and other members of their groups. This is not only interesting and beautiful to watch, it gives you first hand experience in seeing socialization occurring in other species. This fits with the first couple of weeks of Soc 142, and it will help you enjoy learning the basics of mammal socialization.

Channel 33 often shows videos with cheetahs, lions, wolves, monkeys, and other advanced species that do complex social behavior. See if you can identify any of the principles of learning theory that are presented in lecture or Behavior Principles in Everyday Life. There are countless interesting and important behavioral details for you to discover if you watch closely and keep in mind the things that John is sharing with you in lecture and in the text book.

So whenever you get bored with any show that you are viewing on TV, remember to surf over to channel 33. Also, during commercial breaks during your normal viewing, toggle over to channel 33, to see if there is a program about mammals. Sometimes you can see interesting learning in birds, fish, and other species, too.
