Bacterial Infections
Bacterial agents cause a number of STDs and they generally reproduce rapidly. Bacterial STIs can be treated in many cases, like the common infections chlamydia and gonorrhea. However, if not treated these infections may cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Other bacterial STIs, such as syphilis, can be treated in their earlier stages: yet if left untreated, the disease may progress into a very serious problem. These bacterial STDs are primarily transmitted through sexual contact.
