Common Reasons for Choosing Abortion
Below are some of the main reasons women voluntarily terminate their pregnancies. Whether or not they are so-called "valid" reasons to obtain an abortion is subject to individual opinions and feelings.
- My parents will kill me if they know I am pregnant.
- I cannot afford a baby.
- I am too young and immature to have a baby.
- I don't want anyone to know I have had sex.
- My partner will leave me.
- I am not ready to be a mother.
- My husband/boyfriend wants me to.
- I was raped.
- I don't want to be a single parent.
Some people may claim that none of these reasons make it acceptable to have an abortion, while others believe that any woman should have the right to an abortion if she wants one. There are of course many people who are somewhere in the middle. They may believe that abortions are justified in some cases, such as in cases of rape or incest, but not in others.
