Emergency Contraception Available Over the Counter
In California and some other places, emergency contraception is now available without a prescription. This means that it is now possible to obtain ECPs through a pharmacist without a doctor's visit. Only certain pharmacists are licensed to distribute ECPs, so it is important to call your local pharmacies in advance to determine exactly which pharmacists offer this service, and when those pharmacists are available.
For those in the UCSB area, the Rite Aid at 7127 Hollister (next to Albertson's) offers ECPs without a prescription. Call (805) 968-2954 for more information. To search for more ECP providers, including those outside of California, please call 1-888-not-2-late [1 (888) 668-2528], or visit http://www.not-2-late.com.
