Love has been commonly portrayed in our culture as magical, infinite, and blissful. Anyone who has been in love or in a relationship understands that while this is true, beneath all the romance lies an intense amount of work. It is important to have a solid foundation in any relationship and to find ways to continue to grow and be happy with your partner. This section is aimed at helping people navigate this emotional time, survive a break up, and improve existing or future relationships.

            The world of dating has changed dramatically over the last century. Some may argue that in today's society, it is nonexistent, replaced by hooking up for college students and completely new rituals for adults and young adults. With the advancement of technology and the changing definitions of traditional dating and families, dating has become a more open and self-interpreted institution than the ones our society has seen over the last few centuries. It is important to note that many of these dating styles apply mostly to heterosexual couples.

In today's society it has become clear that the dating styles of young adults have changed. In recent years, there have been studies researching the occurrence of hooking up and booty calls on college campuses. These phenomena are common and becoming a new segue into relationships, while traditional courtships and dating becoming less popular.           Hooking up may lead to hybrid relationships, such as a booty call, or may develop into a full-fledged relationship as well. It varies between individuals and the amount of contact before engaging in a hook-up.

Deciding to become sexually active can be a major turning point in a person's life. There are many factors to consider when making this decision. Once you have made the decision to have sex for the first time, it is important to realize that it is normal to have certain worries or concerns. When thinking about becoming sexually active, a person must consider getting tested for STI's, educate themselves on the different methods of birth control, and be sure they are emotionally ready as well.
