Bio:
Nia Flowers is a PhD candidate in the Sociology Department. Her research utilizes in-depth interviews to center the experiences of Black mothers in Los Angeles navigating between family, employment, and education. Flowers’ interdisciplinary scholarship is grounded in Black women's histories and Black feminist theories. Flowers is a Ford Foundation Fellow, a Doctoral Scholars Fellow, and a Center of Black Studies Research Fellow.
